Mornings at my house can go one of two ways - they can be choo choo playing, (that's Thomas The Train for the uninitiated) book reading marathons, or else it's all hands on deck to manage a grumpy toddler and a (luckily) very pleasant tiny baby. Either way - getting a solid breakfast into Grey is #1.
When all else fails, enter Mighty Vitamix. Hands down, the single most used appliance in our kitchen, that machine is worth every penny and then some - the secret weapon to sneaking good things into that little man. For those days that you need a that extra boost, try this one on.
There are a number of ingredients that are repeat offenders in my recipes and I suggest you make a part of your pantry, flax seed, chia seed and coconut oil are a few to start with. Heart healthy flax seeds are a great source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids (good fats), rich in fibre and antioxidants, do your best to eat them ground rather than whole, easier for your body to digest. Chia seeds are a great thickening agent (so go easy on them) and offer a protein boost to your morning shake. Coconut oil is rich in natural saturated fats, another heart heathy oil. If you believe everything you read it's a miracle oil that does everything from improving your skin and hair to helping you to build muscle.
